Professor Rondinelli presented an invited talk at the first Materials Research Society Spring meeting held in Phoenix, AZ, from March 28-April 1. His invited talk titled “Discovery of functional oxides by computational and epitaxial design” was apart of Symposium MD3: Functional Oxide Heterostructures by Design.
At the meeting, Prof. Rondinelli also served as an instructor for Tutorial MD3: Discovery of functional oxides by computational and epitaxial design. The half-day tutorial on March 28, 2016, provided foundational knowledge for researchers, ranging from students to professional scientists, in the field of the design of complex oxide thin films and heterostructures. Participant outcomes included understanding routes to predict, synthesize, control, and explain the functional properties of complex oxide heterostructures with a focus on theoretical approaches and synthetic methods. Other speakers in the tutorial session included H. Christen (ORNL) and S. May (Drexel).
